Film Transfer
Our customers love our Film Transfer Service. That's because the final product is usually much better than they were expecting. Such results only come from experience and time. The actual transfer process is done by myself, the owner, because I want your film transfer to look great, not just good (I've been told I'm a perfectionist). I don't rush your project thru, in fact much more time is usually spent on it than planned, at no additional cost to you. A great deal of effort goes into producing quality and that takes time. While transfering a reel it's common to see an indoor scene switch to an outdoor scene and back, this requires a white balance and brightness adjustment. These adjustments are crucial to giving your film a polished look. It's not uncommon to stop the film in the middle of a reel or re-do the reel because the results were not up to expectations. One reason these corrections need to be made is because of the difference between film and video. Film has a much wider dynamic range than TV Signals and because of this, it becomes a creative process that can only be handled with manual corrections. We recommend that you use our Gold Service for your film transfer, the gold takes the above process another step further and makes additional corrections like speed, manual white balance adjustments for a better look or for color shifted film, we even flip the picture digitally if the reel was wound incorrectly. In addition, the gold also adds titles to your transfer and on the DVD, you can use the "Reel Selection" chapter menu where each chapter is set to play a specific reel of film. Either service is great but if you want the best possible look, go for the gold.

Every DVD includes:

Chapter Menu Our standard service will set chapters to 5 minute intervals, Our Gold service will set a chapter at the start of each reel. Large reels will have a start chapter and will also have chapters placed every 3-5 minutes inside on the original splices if possible.
Every DVD will have a chapter menu and motion clip previews to show a preview of the chapter. Jump around your film or to a specific reel (with gold service) using these chapters. Just click on one of many motion previews and go directly to that footage on the DVD.

Film to digital (DVD resolution) to DVD, Some transfer houses use VHS cameras which is only half the quality of DVD.
We use a Digital 3 CCD Camera transfer process for exceptional color, clarity and detail.
